Green Growth recognised by UNESCO-UNEVOC as an Innovation and Learning Practice in ‘Green’ Vocational Education and Training

The European project led by the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción has been highlighted for its contribution to the transition towards a circular economy in the construction sector.

The European project ‘Green Growth’, coordinated by Fundación Laboral de la Construcción and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, has been recognised as an Innovation and Learning Practice by the Building and Construction Expert Group of UNESCO-UNEVOC’s BILT project (Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET). This recognition highlights its role in identifying, integrating, and implementing new competencies related to the circular economy within vocational education and training in the construction sector.

Developed between November 2020 and May 2023, the project focused on reducing CO₂ emissions in the sector through strategies that promote the circular economy, particularly in building renovation. Through a labour market analysis conducted in collaboration with companies, sector organisations, and VET centres, Green Growth identified the skills needed to move towards a more sustainable construction model.

This recognition by UNESCO-UNEVOC underlines the relevance of Green Growth as a transferable model for other countries and regions seeking to integrate sustainability into vocational education and training in the construction industry.
